Jonathan P. Mehlman serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of Hospitality Investors Trust, Inc. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Hospitality Investors Trust, Inc. (formerly known as American Realty Capital Hospitality Trust, Inc.), its advisor and its property manager from their formation in July 2013 to November 2014. Mr. Mehlman has 22 years of experience in the real estate investment banking and capital markets with significant focus in the hospitality sector. Within the real estate industry, Mr. Mehlman has acted as a Mergers and Acquisitions advisor, investment banker and lender and has many years of experience coordinating transaction activity for public and private global hotel brands and US hotel REITs. From August 2012 until January 2013, Mr. Mehlman was co-head of the real estate advisory group at KPMG before joining American Realty Capital in January 2013 as an Executive Vice President and Managing Director. From September 2009 through August 2011, Mr. Mehlman was co-head of the lodging and gaming investment banking business for Citadel Securities, an affiliate of The Citadel Group, a Chicago based $13 billion hedge fund. From August 2008 to September 2009, Mr. Mehlman served as head of the real estate advisory group at HSBC. From 2005 to 2008, Mr. Mehlman led the hospitality investment banking effort for Citigroup Global Markets. From 1993 to 2005, he worked at Deutsche Bank Securities and its predecessor company, Bankers Trust Company, in the real estate investment banking group, specializing in the business development and client coverage within the hospitality sector and for real estate private equity sponsors. Mr. Mehlman received his bachelor of art in art history from the University of Michigan as well as a master in business administration with a focus in real estate and finance from the University of North Carolina.

Edward T. Hoganson serves as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Hospitality Investors Trust, Inc. Prior to joining Hospitality Investors Trust, Inc., Mr. Hoganson served as Executive Vice President of Finance and Business Development for Crestline Hotels and Resorts. Mr. Hoganson oversaw the company's assets and lead the push to acquire new properties for management. Mr. Hoganson rejoined Crestline in 2007 from Sunrise Senior Living, where he served as Senior Vice President of Finance and Acquisitions. Prior to that, Mr. Hoganson served as Vice President of Acquisitions for Barceló Crestline and then for Highland Hospitality Corporation. He was instrumental in the growth of Crestline from its merger with Barceló Hotels & Resorts to the creation of Highland Hospitality Corporation, a real estate investment trust that was spun off from Barceló Crestline. Mr. Hoganson has more than 15 years of financial and hospitality industry management experience. He began his career with Deloitte & Touche and then joined Marriott International where he held various finance positions during the six years prior to joining what was then Crestline Capital. Mr. Hoganson holds a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University, a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Business from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Paul C. Hughes was appointed General Counsel and Secretary in March 2017. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President, Counsel – Hospitality and had worked at AR Global since November 2013. Prior to joining AR Capital, the predecessor to AR Global, Mr. Hughes served as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of CapLease, Inc. (“CapLease”), a NYSE-listed REIT, from January 2005 until the consummation, in November 2013, of the merger of CapLease with and into American Realty Capital Properties, Inc. (n/k/a VEREIT, Inc.), a NASDAQ-listed REIT, which was then externally advised by an affiliate of AR Capital. Prior to joining CapLease, Mr. Hughes was an attorney practicing in the area of corporate and securities matters at Hunton & Williams LLP from September 2000 until January 2005, and at Parker Chapin LLP from September 1997 until September 2000. Mr. Hughes is also a certified public accountant and was employed by Grant Thornton LLP from January 1989 until June 1997.
